The banner image on this web site is an excerpt from a painting by Robert George (1928-1999), an abstract expressionist watercolorist who was locally famous in the Inland Empire, the district of California east of Los Angeles. Titled “Chino Hills”, the painting is a landscape of the hills southwest of the town of Chino painted in the early 1950’s when that area was still farms and open space. He lived in a house across the street from my childhood home in Chino. My mother bought this painting from him in 1955, and it has been in the family ever since. I have very fond memories as a boy of warm summer days bicycling through the chaparral-covered hills that he has captured so well.
